The Anti-Christ

The topic of the Anti-Christ is one that is widely discussed in recent times, especially due to many happenings in the world. It is very obvious that we are in the ‘last days’ as was described in the bible. Almost every sign Jesus gave in Matthew 24 has been fulfilled. But many Christians are confused as to what the Anti-Christ is all about. Some believe the person called the Anti-Christ is already here on earth. Others have tagged many former presidents of the United states as the Anti-Christ. 😊😊😊 So who is the Anti-Christ?

Who is the Anti-Christ? Well it is important to note that there is the spirit of the anti-Christ, and the person of the Anti-Christ. The spirit of the anti-Christ is any spirit that is against the spirit of Christ. (Simple right?). Any spirit that antagonizes the spirit of Christ, is the anti-Christ. This spirit has been manifesting from the early days of the church. Apostle John mentioned in I John 4:3 “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”. But there is the person of the Anti-Christ, who is yet to be revealed. This person is the mastermind of the great tribulation. The great tribulation will not take place until the saints (those who are born-again, and have their names in the book of life) have been taken away (rapture) from the earth. The Anti-Christ is referred to the beast in Revelation 19, and he will force everyone during his reign to worship him. (Revelation 19:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world). He will also make everyone to take the mark of the beast. (Revelation 19:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.) The Anti-Christ will issue a peace around the world during his reign for the first three and half years, after which he will change drastically, and torment the world for another three and half years. That was the prophecy of Daniel about the last one week (7 years). Daniel 9:27 (“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”). Just like Jesus Christ was God in human flesh, the Anti-Christ will be Satan in human flesh. He is the devil-personified.

Will the Christians be here when the Anti-Christ is revealed? No, that is never possible. The Anti-Christ cannot operate fully when the Christians are here. So all true believers would have been raptured to meet the Lord in the air. I Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Why did Paul say the Say the day will not come except the Anti-Christ is revealed? II Thessalonians 2:1-3 “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” The second coming of Christ is in two phases; the first is the rapture (where the Jesus Christ will not come fully into the earth, he will only appear in the sky, and the believers will join him), then the second phase is when he fully come into the world. This was prophesied by Zechariah (Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.) So Apostle Paul was referring to the second phase when Jesus will be in the earth. But it is not going to be an easy feat. Because he is coming with the believers (who have been caught up in the rapture), back to the earth where the anti-Christ has been operating for 7 years, there will be a war. But obviously the Anti-Christ and his acquired agents will be utterly defeated. This is what Paul was referring to in II Thessalonians 2:8 “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming”

What happens to Christians who miss the rapture? They will be faced with two options. Take the mark and be doomed forever, or refuse the mark and pay with your own blood. John in his revelation saw many Christians who had to pay with their own blood and their souls made it to heaven during the great tribulation. Revelation 7:9-14 ” After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”

What about the 144,000 people that was chosen? Some sects of people believe these are the only people that will make heaven. But that notion is clearly false. As we read in Revelation 7:9 above, a great multitude was seen which could not be numbered. So who are the 144,000 people? These are the selected ones from the elect (the children of Israel). Because of the covenant God had made with them, 144,000 people will be selected from the 12 tribes (12,000 each) of Israel. How this will be done was not given. God is the only one who has that information. Jesus made mention of it in Matthew 24:22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

What Should be our response as Christians? Get ready. The day is near. The time is short. The day will come like the blink of an eye. I Corinthians 15:52 “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” As believers, we are watching and waiting for the Christ, not the anti-Christ. Let us set our priorities right. And more importantly, not waiting in fear, but waiting to be comforted by our Lord Jesus Christ. As Apostle Paul said in I Thessalonians 4:18 “Comfort one another with these words”. May we all meet at heaven’s gate. Amen. God bless you.
